The Code Advisory Team (CAT) is a group of community members that will help advise and guide the Land Development Code Update. Their knowledge of Santa Fe and relevant expertise will add valuable insight to the development of the new Land Development Code, ensuring the best possible regulatory tool kit as Santa Fe continues to grow.

If you are interested in joining the Code Advisory Team (working title), please send your resume and a cover letter answering the questions below to ldcupdate@santafenm.gov by 9:00AM on Monday, September 21, 2026.

APPLICATION QUESTIONS:

 

1. Why do you want to serve on the Code Advisory Team? (~150 words) 

2. Describe your knowledge of, or experience with, Santa Fe's land use code (Chapter 14) or land use process generally. This can be professional experience, technical training, or lived experience as a resident, business owner, or applicant who has navigated the code. (~200 words) 

3. Which topic areas are you most interested in contributing to? Select up to two, and briefly explain why: 

   • Process, permitting, and administration 

   • Housing and affordability tools 

   • Parking and site design 

   • Historic preservation and neighborhood compatibility 

   • Zoning district structure 

4. What is your favorite section of Santa Fe's current land use code that should be carried forward? (~150 words) 

5. Name one specific provision or issue in Santa Fe's current land use code that you think Phase 2 should address, and briefly explain why it matters to you. (~150 words) 

6. CAT service involves regular meetings over the course of Phase 2. Can you commit to that level of participation, and what does your availability look like over the next 1–2 years? (short answer) 

7. Do you bring a perspective — professional, cultural, neighborhood, or lived experience — that you feel is currently underrepresented in Santa Fe land use conversations? (~150 words) 

8. Describe a time you worked in a group where people disagreed, and how that got resolved. (~150 words)
