Phase 2 - Substantive Code UPdates
Phase 2 of the Land Development Code Update began in the Summer of 2026. Building off the new, reorganized foundation LDC adopted in Phase 1 (see below for more information), the second phase will include multiple installments of substantive revisions to the LDC based on different land use topics, as outlined in the timeline below. Phase 2's aim is to implement the land use and growth goals of the updated Santa Fe General Plan, currently being developed as a separate project to the LDC update.
Opportunities for public input will take place throughout the project.

Phase 1 - LDC Foundations
Phase 1 was completed and adopted in late 2025. This phase identified opportunities to improve the organization, clarity, and general user-friendliness of the LDC. Phase 1 created the foundation for a new LDC that is accessible, easy to understand, simple to administer, and provides consistent and transparent regulations.
